FAQ
What kind of yarn to use for tufting gun?
Acrylic yarn is a popular choice for tufting due to its affordability, availability in various colors, and ease of use. It is lightweight and has a soft texture, making it suitable for creating plush and comfortable rugs. Acrylic yarn spools from Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Micheals and other craft stores are great and typically what i always use for my rugs.
How long does it take to make a rug?
Depending on the size of rug you make and amount of details on your rug can vary. This rug in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx7urEXE5UI&t=471s&ab_channel=EUPHORIC that i made only took me about 35minutes to finish. It only has two colors and is about 28in tall.
What kind of glue do I use for finishing my tufted rugs? / What rug glue do i use?
I found that white Elmers glue works great! I would recommend using a putty knife and make a decent layer of this glue onto the back of the rug. Once it's dry it's pretty sturdy! If you want to be a little extremely you could use glue called AAT-1132 from a brand called Bond Products that comes out great as well but costs a lot more. It is not necessary to have though.
Can you wash your rugs? / Can you wash your tufted rug in a washer?
I wouldn't recommend washing your rugs because the yarn may make a huge mess. It's just not built for that. I have found that using a "Dog Comb Blade" to brush rugs works wonders! It cleans off any excess dirt and lint from your rugs and keeps it looking nice.
